The Strater consist of a live theatre an award winning restaurant a historic saloon and an upscale bar a catering company banquet and meeting facilities all under one roof. Come be a part of history The four-story red brick Strater Hotel is an exceptional example of American Victorian architecture highlighted by original white stone cornices and ornamental brickwork. The interior of the property transports guests back to Durangos heyday and blends American history with Victorian charm and modern convenience. That authenticity is evident in the Straters public spaces which showcase crystal chandeliers ornate woodworking and moldings coffered ceilings and intricately carved columns. Windowed display cases filled with antiques and collectibles are scattered throughout the hotel. The Strater has been owned by the Barker family for three generations and over the years the family has assembled one of the worlds largest collections of American Victorian antique walnut furniture. Louis LaAmour found the atmosphere so inspirational that he frequently booked rooms 222 and 223 to work on his western novels.
