Front line staff.Mickey mouse maintenance repairs; paint sloughing off in the tub; backed up toilets/tub.Quality is important even in a 2 star hotel; do repairs correctly the first time or it will be noticed by patrons and cost more in the long run, while leaving patrons with a mediocre taste.

Absolutely nothing.Bug in room. Staff uncaring andrude.
After being moved 3 times due to broken things and bugs in each room. Motel was disgusting dirty, in need of safety standard improvements, (the stairs on the second level were broken and if you were a large person, you might fall through.
