Driving Directions: I-78 West (toward Clinton, NJ) into PA, go past Allentown exits to exit 14 for Route 100 South, follow Route 100 South for about 1 mile to the traffice light at Schantz Road, bear rightonto Schantz Road, just before going through the light, follow Schantz road for apporx. 4 miles to stop sign at the intersection of with Route 222 South, bear right onto 222 South, continuing to the exit for Route 222 Sotuh (Bypass) toward Lancaster, continue on 222 South to the 2nd exit after passing the exit for N.Wyomissing Blbd, this is the exit for Reading - Penn Street, follow Penn Street across the brigde into downtown Reading, go the traffic elight at 5th Street and turn left onto 5th, go to the 2nd traffic light at Washington hotel is on the left. Route 202 North to Route 100 North to Pennsylvania Turnpike, exit 312(old exit 23, Downingtown) to Turnpike West, to exit 298 (olds exit 22, Morgantown) to Route 176 north to 422 West, (Reading) exit at the Penn Street exit, turn left on 5th street to Washington Street, turn right into the garage. 1-76/Schuylkill Expressway (toward Pottstown), exit at 26B for Route 422 West, follow signs to 422 West, continue on 422 past Oaks, Sanatoga, Phoenixville, Stowe, Exeter, etc into the Reading area, go past the left exit for Lancaster Avenue, to the next exit for Penn Street, Reading, follow Penn Street across the bridge into downtown Reading, go to the traffic light at 5th Street and turn left onto 5th Street, go to 2nd traffic light (Washington) hotel is at the corner to the left, turn left onto Washington Street and the entrance to the parking garage will be immediately to your right. PA Turnpike East of exit 286 (old exit 21, Reading), route 222 North, continue on Route 222 North to the underpass for the interscetion of Route 222/Route 422 Bypass, turn left at the first traffic signal onto 5th Street (Business Route 222) turn left onto Washington Street, turn right into the parking garage.

Nice hotel, but area location was questionable, didn't seem safe to walk places. Entrance was not easily accessible.

Hard to find.
Sad, that they call this a Historic hotel. Yes, the building is beautiful but that is it. The hotel part needs a lot of work. It is in an unsafe, parking was awful, no room service past 10 pm. Room smelled bad, looked old and tired. AC was awful, bathroom...Read More

I like the open lobby.
Dark, dirty, and smelly. Bad food and they charge for parking.
It's old, dark and dirty. The rooms smell of 140 years of smoking. That smell does not go away with a no-smoking sign. They charge for parking. The bathroom had mold. Although hard to see because it was so dark. The food (club sandwich) was sub standard. ...Read More
