Great ambiance, great location & great history.
The staff over promised a bit on some accommodations for our children that did not materialize.
I would stay there again-- very good overall. A great trip.

A great historic hotel and a must stay for all travelers.
Everything was great.
This is a great romantic place for any who want to get away with their significant other. Great history for the buffs who like Thomas Jefferson and the scenery of Richmond.

Christmas decorations, friendliness of staff.
No vending machines, gift shop closed at 4 p.m.
Beautiful hotel, very comfortable rooms. Dining rooms were wonderful, and everyone on the staff was particularly friendly and helpful. They always remembered your name, and spoke to you every time they say you. The shuttle to Downtown was very helpful. Ho...Read More

Lobby & mezzanine are beautiful.
Food & food service was not good.
This hotel is rated as the "only 5 star" within the region. I have no idea what makes it a 5 star. Yes, it's grand & historic; however, the rooms are nothing special, food was awful, & they were understaffed. Pretty place to stop in & see or have tea; how...Read More

The staff was very helpful they opened the gift shop for me when closed and then drove me to drug store to get what I needed.
No fans in the bathroom so it would steam up a lot from the shower and didn't dissipate afterwards.
Clearly the best hotel in Richmond with good service and the small touches that make a difference.

Excellent historical hotel. Excellent and excellent food.
Room was a poor reflection of the common area. Bed was not comfortable at all; wake up with aches and pain.
Upon entering the main lobby you are immediately greeted with history and charm of a grand hotel. The staff was wonderful in meeting your every need. Although there is wonderful history and rich heritage, the room itself could use some overhaul to make it...Read More

I couldn't pick just one thing. I loved everything. I would have to say that the staff was my favorite part. Excellent!
There isn't anything that I disliked.
Nothing can prepare you for the beauty and elegance of the hotel. The hotel staff matched the surroundings perfectly with their warmth, friendliness and accommodating style. You suspect when you stay at an older hotel that the age may show through a littl...Read More
