Hotel Description:

The Holiday Inn San Clemente Downtown Resort overlooks the blue Pacific Ocean in the center of the lovely beach community of San Clemente, 5 minutes from world famous Trestles surfing beach. It's halfway between Los Angeles and San Diego, a serene world away from the faster urban pace of its larger neighbors. San Clemente, next door to famous Laguna Beach, is a town made for walking and sits in the center of town, just steps away from restaurants, cafes, unique shops and a beautiful white sand beach. Legoland, Disneyland and Knott s Berry Farm are a 40 minute drive. San Diego Zoo, Sea World, Universal Studios, Hollywood, Temecula Wine Country/Vinyards and Tijuana/Mexico are all about an hour drive. Each of the hotel's 72 rooms features a refrigerator, coffee maker, and hair dryer and free WI/FI for your convenience. Many also offer ocean views and balconies. Or enjoy one of our deluxe rooms with in-room private spas. Our great restaurant Maxim offers relaxed but stylish dining for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Room service is available, as well. And if you feel energetic, we have a swimming pool, spa and fitness room for your daily workouts. Several world class golf courses are nearby, and tennis courts, bicycle riding, deep sea fishing, sailing, harbor cruises, whale watching and even horseback riding are only a short drive from our front door. Overall Rating:
Location.
Paring. Very tight spaces and I only drive a small car.
Location great in heart of San Clemente. Staff was great and rooms about what I expected for a mid star hotel.

Too close to the freeway.

Overall Rating:
Nothing.
The room we had was against the freeway.
When I asked if we could upgrade to a room with a balcony and a view we were told that it was overcast and we wouldn't be able to see anything anyway.

Receptionist was efficient and nice.
Smelled horrible in room and hallway.
Definitely not a three star hotel.

Coffee in the room and a refrigerator.
Right on the freeway. Needs updating.
Not a 3 star hotel. Over valued for what it was. If it would have been a 1 star I would have been very pleased.

Overall Rating:
The hotel was ok. The staff was friendly and cooperative.
It was just ok.
The hotel is fine for an overnight stay. The staff was helpful. When we got to our room, it was one bed with a sofa sleeper and a bathtub in the room. We were in a hurry and needed to get ready to go to a wedding. We had to run down to the desk and change...Read More

Clean room.
Interstate 5 was right outside my window. Impossible to sleep!
While I'm sure some of the rooms are quiet, the proximity to a major freeway makes this hotel unacceptable. Should not be rated 3 stars for this reason alone!

Overall Rating:
It was available.
The bedbugs. I itched for days.
I can't believe I paid that much for that hotel. It smelled of mildew, I got bit by bed bugs (had to sleep in my clothes on towels) and the front desk was rude.

Easy to find.
No enough room amenities.
Nice out of the way hotel, secluded enough but still easy to find. Has a very good restaurant with equal service and close to local restaurants.

Aug. 16, 2006
Overall Rating:
All appliances were in good working order, microwave, refrigerator and coffeepot.
A longer walk to the beach than I expected.
I really enjoyed our stay at the Holiday Inn. It has a really great pool and spa that no one seemed to take advantage of because of their close proximity to the beach. The front desk staff were not very friendly but room service and housekeeping were exce...Read More
