Jade MarketPretty much any shopping street around town has a shop selling jade, but on weekends you won’t want to miss the JiangGuo Jade Market under the expressway of JiangGuo S. Rd, north of Renai Rd. Not recommended for folks with small children.
National Museum of HistoryJust outside the Botanical Gardens, Taiwan’s first museum is still an anchor of local arts and culture in an elegant Japanese-era building. ‘History’ is actually a misnomer – Chinese art history would be more accurate.
National Palace MuseumWidely acknowledged as the worlds finest collection of traditional Chinese art, long-term exhibits at the National Palace Museum include ceramics, jades, bronzes, lacquer-ware, painting, calligraphy, and textiles.
Shilin Night MarketOn the weekends, thousands swarm this threadbare network of alleys strewn with bins of cheap clothing, shoes, watches, gadgets ect. Try one or two of the local delicacies or pet a Pekinese puppy.
TungHwa Night MarketLots of food, handbags, men’s and women’s clothing and casual accessories are found here, where the centre of the action is on Lin Jiang street.
