And, Tybee was the backdrop for the movie, The Last Song starring Miley Cyrus. Historic Tybee Island Inn, circa 1902, captures the beach casual essence of Tybee with style. Framed with magnificent live oaks and palms, enjoy the sea breeze from our large front or back porches or relax in our tropical gardens. Spend the day on the quietest beach access on the Island. Or, explore the Islands history and visit Fort Pulaski, home of a major Civil War battle in April 1862 - the Tybee Lighthouse, recognized as the oldest and tallest on the Eastern seaboard - and the cannon embankments and museum of Fort Screven. Check-in is at 3 00 PM. Guests planning to arrive before or after this time must contact the property at least 48 hours prior to arrival to receive special check-in instructions. From Savannah Take the Islands Expressway then US 80 to Tybee Island, go to 2nd red light, proceed 1 short block, then turn left on 2nd Avenue. Go 1 block and enter Fort Screven, immediately see beach access, road does 90 degree curve left, Tybee Island Inn is 2 tenths of a mile on the left, directly across from Oceanside Nursing Care.
